Even though South Korean superstar Psy is not performing in Dubai this month, as originally announced by local organisers, it seems the ‘Gangnam Style’ singer hasn’t forgotten his Arab fans.

According to an AP report, Psy is changing the title and lyrics of his upcoming track over worries it could offend Arabs.

The announced title for the song can be written as ‘Assarabia’ or ‘Assaravia’ in English, which is slang used by South Koreans to express thrills.

However, the singer is concerned of yet another controversy that it may upset fans here that deem the title derogatory towards Arabs.

As a result, Psy announced on a South Korean social media website that he has decided to change the title, along with some of the lyrics to take this into account.

Some Dubai-based fans say this a sure fire sign that the singer is going to keep his promise about coming to the emirate soon for a concert.

Last month, organisers of My Music X had announced the superstar was set to perform at the Atlantis The Palm on March 28.

However, within 48 hours of the announcement, Psy tweeted this simply wasn’t true.

The breakthrough artiste took to micro blogging site Twitter to write: “To fans in Dubai, there is some wrong information being reported.

“I will not be in Dubai March 28 but look forward to coming soon.”

A clear enough sign that a concert could be in the works very soon.

Breaking the stereotype of not so conventionally good looks or a well-choreographed dance, Psy burst on to the world last year, turning into a global phenomenon that even had stars such as Amitabh Bachchan breaking into the jig.

After several Korean albums, Psy has promised future work in English but it isn’t clear when.

The ‘Gangnam Style’ video with its catchy tune and much-imitated horse-riding dance has a record 1.44 billion views on YouTube since July.
