Spring Safaris for children at Al Ain Zoo

It's time for the UAE kids to monkey around Al Ain zoo. The zoo is organising Spring Safari for children to educate them about wildlife and bring them closer to nature. The first Spring Safari will take place from March 25-29, and the second one from April 1-5.

Children divided in teams will engage in a collection of rewarding and well-structured activities that include zoo keeping, art and crafts, recycling, participating in the zoo’s newly developed programme - the Al Ain Zoo Amazing Race - as well as other team building exercises.

Children will also enjoy guided tours at the Elezba petting zoo where they can get up-close with their favourite furred and feathered animals, feeding the giraffes and creating objects and crafts aimed at enriching the animals’ environment.

The aim of organising these week-long programmes is to enhance the youth’s understanding of animals. These safaris will also help children build their self-esteem through exciting team-building exercises and perhaps would encourage them to build a career in this field as a result of their experiences at the zoo.

Al Ain Zoo had a good experience in the past with their Spring, Summer and Winter Camps.

The Spring Safaris are open to 40 children, aged eight to 14 years. In 2011 about 37,930 students come through the doors of Al Ain Zoo’s Education Centre with the help of more than 3,900 teachers from 615 schools across the UAE.

Each camp will run for five days from 8am to 1pm at a cost of Dh250 per child which includes all activities in addition to a drink, a snack and a goodie bag.

Tickets for the Al Ain Zoo Spring Safaris can be reserved by calling Al Ain Zoo’s Education Centre at 037811451 or by sending an e-mail to education@awpr.ae.
