Mere days after the highly anticipated Amr Diab concert was cancelled at the Burj Park on December 6, it’s now the capital that has called off the Susan Boyle concert that was scheduled for this Friday.

Citing logistical difficulties, the news comes as Boyle confirmed to a UK newspaper that she has been diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, a type of autism.

In a statement to the media, organisers said: “AUH Live and Susan Boyle’s Management sincerely regret to announce the cancellation of Susan Boyle’s show at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on the 13th December 2013, due to logistical production difficulties that prevent the show going ahead at this time.

“Ticket refunds may be obtained via Ticketmaster Customer Service.”

The Grammy nominated British singing sensation from Scotland was to perform under the stars in her debut performance in the UAE.

Boyle won hearts around the globe with her jawdropping performance at the 2009 auditions for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, following which, she has carved out a successful international career, with four record-breaking studio albums and numerous accolades.

This show in Abu Dhabi was to include her Christmas duet with the late Elvis Presley.

On Sunday, Boyle told the ‘Observer’ newspaper that she saw a specialist a year ago, who told her she had Asperger’s and an above-average IQ.

Boyle, 52, had learning difficulties as a child, which she was told were the result of brain damage from oxygen deprivation at birth. She struggled in school and was bullied by other children.

Despite her difficulties, Boyle’s success can be measured with her album sales, selling over 14 million records around the world and recently released her fourth album, ‘Home for Christmas’.

She makes her big-screen debut in holiday movie, ‘The Christmas Candle’.
