People can get emotional, angry and political on Facebook but now we know they can get dumb and dumber - thanks to dinosaur.

A picture, taken on the set of director Steven Spielberg 1993 blockbuster Jurassic Park, was posted online by Facebook meme-maker and wit Jay Branscomb.

Branscomb jokingly added a caption claiming the photo showed a ‘despicable’ hunter.

"Disgraceful photo of recreational hunter happily posing next to a Triceratops he just slaughtered. Please share so the world can name and shame this despicable man," read his humorous caption.

The Internet promptly exploded with outrage over the killing of a creature that has not existed for millions of years.

Animal lovers lashed out at the cruel smiling man, sympathised with the dead animal.

"I did not know that Steven Spielberg is a dinosaur hunter," said Andrea O'Donnell Koran. "I am not only outraged, but disgusted!!"

"This is no sport!!" cried Omega McCracken, as Sondre Jorstad questioned: "Why did he kill such a rare animal?"

Steven Spielberg, since then has been trolled by numerous users ignorant that the director posed with a mechanical Triceratops on the set of 1993 film Jurassic Park.

One Facebook commenter who misunderstood Branscomb’s humur was PenelopeRayzor Bachand. She labelled Spielberg an ‘inhumane p****’ and ‘animal killer.’

‘Steven Spielberg, I’m disappointed in you. I’m not watching any of your movies again ANIMAL KILLER,’ she ended her impassioned rant.

‘I don’t care who he is, he should not have shot that animal,' wrote Vincent Smith.

A number of other commenters also apparently fail to realize that the triceratops has been extinct for 66 million years ago and that Spielberg, one of the most famous movie makers of all time, is sitting beside a mechanical prop from a movie which has grossed more than $1 billion and won three Academy Awards.

Gullible people who failed to recognize the “Jurassic Park” director or display any knowledge of dinosaurs spewed angry and expletive-filled rants on Facebook.

To date, Branscomb’s post has received over 15,445 likes, been shared more than 40,471 times and attracted more than 8,719 comments.

The post was so popular that Branscomb posted another photo, this time featuring Spielberg almost 20 years earlier when he was filming Jaws in 1975.

‘Folks, we need your help identifying the vicious shark-killer shown posing with his illegal prey,' wrote Branscomb.

Branscomb is enjoying his moment in the spotlight, posting all the news article about this dumb share and claiming he has won the Internet.
