Set in rural Rajasthan, 'Balika Vadhu' traces the arduous journey of child bride Anandi from the brink of childhood to womanhood.

The serial is one of the most watched soap in Indian television aiming to educate its audience against some social practices.

The popular show has been running for more than four years and Pratyusha Banerjee stepped into the shoes of child prodigy Avika Gor as Anandi in 2010, when the show took a five-year leap.

Pratyusha was chosen through a nationwide poll. That just goes on to show that Pratyusha was popular with the audience even before she came into the frame.

Recently, Pratyusha quit 'Balika Vadhu' eyeing to enter Bollywood.

The sudden exit of the show’s leading lady has left the audience extremely disappointed across the globe.

It’s been a little over a week since the news broke out of Pratyusha's exit, fans have been apprehensive about her replacement Toral Rasputra.

Emirates 24|7 received unprecedented responses from readers expressing their disappointment over her quitting.

Ranbir said, “Please bring her back in the serial. Things can be resolved. Pratyusha suited the character the best and the viewers want her to be back. She was chosen by the viewers through a nationwide organised poll, so definitely her exit is quite difficult for the viewers to accept! PLEASE PRATYUSHA COME BACK. LOVED YOU AS ANANDI!!”

Another reader, Alok said, “It’s so true, that chemistry of Shiv aka Siddharth and Pratyusha aka Anandi was so good and perfect that we used to watch this serial only for their presence. They were not only two characters but a real life pair, whom we felt ourselves so close to! Toral aka new Anandi is totally incapable of bringing those feelings to us. So this is our request to bring her back.”

The petite actress won millions of hearts with her looks and acting talent.

Her fans have also threatened to stop watching the show if Pratyusha did not return.

Christina said, “I got attracted to the show for the on-screen romance of siddharth & pratyusha which is one common reason for most of the viewers. Now the interest is all gone and the new pair looks like any other random on-screen couple which people can find in all the daily soaps! I got disheartened after Pratyusha's exit from the show and left watching the show any further! It's so boring now. The magic is gone! Please bring Pratyusha back on the show, this is a public demand."

Pratyusha has been replaced by Toral Rasputra who has a legacy to follow. It will be difficult for her to meet the expectations of the audience and has an uphill task.

However, the fate of the serial cannot be foreseen so early. All we can do is just wait and watch if Pratyusha's exit will affect the ratings.

Years ago, actor Amar Upadhyay quit 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' when it was at its peak. The reason he said, was that he didn’t want to play a dad as the show took a leap. Interestingly, instead of taking up another show, he tried his luck in Bollywood. He couldn’t prove his mettle in movies and his subsequent return to the small screen was also lackluster.

There are many more such cases. When Barun Sobti quit 'Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon', the show went off air while he jumped on to the Bollywood bandwagon.

Giaa Manek left 'Saath Nibhaana Saathiya' after being the popular Gopi bahu for over two years to be part of the dance reality show, 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' on another channel.

Sushant Singh Rajput too left 'Pavitra Rishta' for films.

We are sure this is not the end of the story for Pratyusha Banerjee and for all the latest visit this page again.
