On Thursday, October 24, the ‘Krrish 3’ stars stepped into the spotlight in Dubai to speak extensively about their movie.

Organised by Dream Advertising and Ministry of Events, the event unfolded after the essential delay that goes with any Bollywood celeb event.

The stars arrived three hours late and profusely apologised for their “tardiness”.

The screeches, whistles, giggles and applause that followed just reiterated how the star-struck Dubai crowd was (always) willing to forgive their stars for this waiting game.

Talking about his second time at being a superhero, Hrithik Roshan spoke about his health and how his doctors had warned him against doing this movie.

The ‘Krrish 3’ star was in Dubai this Thursday, October 24, along with his dad, and director of the film, Rakesh Roshan, and co-stars Vivek Oberoi, Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut, to promote their new adventure.

“Krrish to me is not the cape, the mask and the superpowers. Krrish to me is about the strength. And, the values he stands for.

“This is one character who has made a huge impact on my life.

“Right from the start of the film to the end, I have suffered mental and physical agonies which could’ve broken me, but because I was so intimately involved in this character that it made me ask the right questions. Instead of asking ‘why’ is this happening, I asked what would a superhero do if I was one.”

He elaborated about how doctors had advised him against doing the role. Even his dad was willing to shelve the film, but Hrithik insisted that he knew there was no point in delaying. “I asked myself how I can make this work for me.”

He added that “the power (to change) lies within us.”

Vivek, who plays the baddie, spoke about how physically challenging his role was. “My costume weighed over 28kg so it was tough.

“I was like a tin-man, wearing a metal costume and hanging on a rope at 30-40 feet in the air.”

Despite the challenges, he claims he had fun matching blow for blow with the superhero Krrish.

“Every challenge was worth it because you felt like you were being part of history.”

Kangana, who plays a super-girl, wasn’t equally ecstatic about her character.

“This is one of my most favourite and special films. She’s India’s first super-girl. And, to be a part of such a big franchise like this is an honour for me.”

Priyanka too shared her sentiments, and highlighted how she gets to the best of both worlds, by playing the good and bad in the movie.

But, if she had to choose her favourite, she said, “Good is great fun, but bad is always so much better.”

Dubai sequel

Surely there’s something magnificent about our desert city. Why else would Bollywood filmmakers queue up to spin a magical tale in this land of dreams?

Earlier in the year, Salman Khan was here filming for his brother Sohail’s movie.

And, just weeks earlier Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, and their fun bunch of celeb pals, were here filming for masala-moviemaker Farah Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’.

Now, Hrithik Roshan is planning to join the club after announcing his plans to film the sequel of his superhero expeditions in Dubai.

After talking at length about the movie, which hits the theatre this week, Roshan senior was quite kicked about revealing his intention of bringing the superhero franchise to Dubai.

The superhero franchise, which teams the father-son duo, has won favourable response at the box-office earlier, and the team is hoping their latest installment, which is filmed exclusively in Singapore, hits the right note with the audience.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Roshan senior elaborated about his plans for the next sequel.

“Yes, we’d like to bring ‘Krrish 4’ to Dubai,” he said.

“We had a great time filming in Singapore. And, if things work out we’d like to come to Dubai.”

He, however, refused to divulge any more details about the script or cast.

And in an effort to wipe away any ounce of doubt on my part, especially since news of Hrithik’s health deteriorated after the schedule of this movie, the actor endorsed, “Yes we are serious about coming here.”

Property take

While Dubai does appear to be their choice of destination for fourth superhero flick, the actors admitted they weren’t looking at snapping up a property deal in the emirate, just yet.

The others – Kangana, Priyanka and Vivek – revealed that they hadn’t even given it a thought, even when their “more famous” B-town peers were jetting into Dubai to make this their second home.

“But, you have planted the idea in our minds,” Hrithik added.
