Breaking rules of the game: 'Krrish 3' to be released on Sunday

‘Krrish 3’ is now releasing two days late. Unlike other filmmakers who want their films to release a day or perhaps two days earlier, Rakesh Roshan has decided to release his movie on a Sunday, instead of a Friday.

‘Krrish 3’ was slated for a Diwali release. On this day most people do not prefer to leave their houses before the start of the Puja and hence there are chances that they may not venture out.

November 1 happens to be a Friday and November 3 happens to be the Sunday on which the auspicious Laxmi Puja takes place. Hence, Rakesh Roshan thinks that if people do not come out before the Puja the opening will take a huge beating and the film will be declared a flop.

It has to also be noticed that the run up to Diwali when people are busy purchasing gifts and decorating the house, and is considered a dry phase as far as movie watching is concerned.

So, if the film does release on a Friday, it may in all probability not make as gargantuan an opening as it would if it does on Laxmi Puja and a huge shower of Laxmi (wealth) will be seen at the box office.

‘Krrish 3’ —  the third instalment in the ‘Koil Mil Gaya’ series — stars Hrithik Rishan, Priyanka Chopra, Vivek Oberoi and Kangna Ranaut and is being directed by Rakesh Roshan with music by Rajesh Roshan.

‘Koi Mil Gaya’ released on the strange date on August 8, 2003 and ‘Krrish’ released in June 2006. Both were Fridays and non-festival days.
