When Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan moved into television, he broke a longstanding rule. Previously, only actors whose movie careers had failed accepted work on the small screen, but since Bachchan’s first stint on “Kaun Banega Crorepati”, the Indian version of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”

Since then, everyone from Salman Khan to Shah Rukh Khan have found work as hosts of reality TV shows, even as they keep a Bollywood film career going strong.

Now it is the turn of top actress Aishwarya Rai, also Bachchan’s daughter-in-law, to take to TV.

Word drifting in from Bollywood is that she is in talks to host a game-cum-chat show.

"Talks are on for a television show that I will be hosting. But my busy schedule stands as an obstacle," India Today magazine quoted her as saying.

Rai, who turns 37 on Monday, has one of Bollywood’s busiest schedules at present: two films are being released in November, Vipul Shah's “Action Replayy” and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's “Guzaarish”.

But things may get sticky on the money front. Rai, one of Bollywood’s most expensive actresses, has reportedly asked for an eye-watering salary.
