Dubai’s Atlantis stars in Shah Rukh, Deepika’s ‘Happy New Year’

The highly anticipated trailer launch of ‘Happy New Year’ is upon us, even as the posters of the Bollywood film’s star-studded cast were released on its eve.
 
UAE residents would probably recognise a known building grabbing the spotlight on those posters, even as the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan take centre-stage.
 
The familiar façade is none other than Dubai’s Atlantis The Palm hotel which, according to the filmmakers, serves as a backdrop to the musical drama’s storyline and has been extensively filmed on location.
 
Other familiar Dubai spots in the film will include Dubai Airports’ Terminal 3 and the Dubai Mall ice rink, where a song shoot has been featured.
 
Earlier, director Farah Khan had announced that ‘Happy New Year’ will host a star-studded premiere at the Atlantis.
 
Meanwhile, at a media event held last year, post the conclusion of the film shoot, Khan couldn’t stop gushing about the shoot in the city, saying: “Dubai is a beautiful city. It has a great scenic balance of ancient and modern architecture.
 
“It’s not just the shopping capital of the Middle East but is a perfect location for a film shoot. Dubai is like home for me and I have loved every bit of experience of shooting for ‘Happy New Year’ here.”
 
Meanwhile, Farah stated: “We haven’t chosen Dubai to shoot the film; it is Dubai that has chosen us. Dubai is an integral part in the film. Dubai is a character in the film and not just a city.”
 
‘Happy New Year’ also stars Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah.

The film will be released in UAE cinemas on October 22.
