Eva Mendes is rumoured to have signed on to play agent Monica Fuentes in 'Fast & Furious 8'.

The 41-year-old actress has reportedly signed on for the eighth film in the franchise to play agent Monica Fuentes, having starred as her in the 2003 sequel '2 Fast 2 Furious' and had a post-credits cameo in 2011's 'Fast Five'.

A source close to the production told WeGotThisCovered.com that Eva's character will be teaming up with Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel), Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and the rest of the gang to take on a new villain in New York.

Jason Statham is also set to reprise his 'Furious 7' role Deckard Shaw in 'Fast & Furious 8'.

The 47-year-old actor, who played the special forces assassin in the most-recent instalment of the money-spinning franchise, has confirmed he is set to reprise the part and has told fans to expect some "great stuff" in the new movie.

He shared: "The fanbase is very unique.

"They really do relate to the characters. They love these characters. They've followed them for years and years.

"We're already talking about doing another one, part eight, and I'm a newcomer. I just got invited to the party in this last one, so it's nice to know that I'll be doing another."
