K-Jo’s storm in coffee cup with Deepika, Sonam

There’s seems to be a lot more brewing on the sets of Karan Johar’s “Koffee With Karan” Season 3, then your average cuppa and a whole lot of juicy gossip.

In fact, it would be safe to say there is a storm raging in that dainty cup as the popular Bollywood producer-director and talk show host has upset the industry’s first family of the Kapoors by encouraging young lasses, Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor, to take repeated digs at their ex and ‘still good friend’ Ranbir Kapoor, on camera.

The incident has blown up so much so that Ranbir’s actor parents, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor have gone on record indicating their displeasure at Karan, Deepika and Sonam.

In an interview with “Mid-day”, Rishi said: “We definitely feel cheated and hurt. My wife and sister are in New York and they were very upset when they heard about the show. Neetu was very hurt and upset and she spoke to Karan about it. We didn't expect this from him because Karan happens to be a close friend but he instigated both the girls to say all those things!”

He continued: “It just shows their (Deepika and Sonam) class. I would like to tell them to stop giggling all the time and instead grow up and behave maturely. They are there on the show because they are their father’s daughters and not because of their work! I would advise them to stop talking about their colleagues and running them down.”

Sunday’s episode, which was aired on Star World in Dubai, saw both actresses dress down Ranbir repeatedly, with Sonam admitting that he was unsexy, and that she had seen it all during the shooting of their film “Saawariya” when he dropped the towel for the infamous song sequence, and simply wasn’t interested anymore.

She also added that she didn’t think that her industry colleague was a good boyfriend and it was a miracle that he held on to Deepika for so long.

To this, Deepika whole-heartedly agreed and continued on later in the show that Ranbir needed to work on his boyfriend skills and implied that he repeatedly cheated on her.

Later on in the show, when Karan joked what would Deepika gift Ranbir, and she said a box of condoms. The actress, who was in Dubai yesterday for the premiere of her new film “Break Ke Baad” has of course gone of record since and claimed it was all said in good humour, saying: “It’s all in good humour. It’s not targeted at anybody… there is no negativity towards anyone. People need to have a sense of humour. If I go and sit quietly and be politically correct, it would have been so boring.”

Boring or not, Ranbir’s parents are simply not impressed. Sources claim that this episode could easily jeopardise Padukone’s world tour with Ranbir next summer, which is scheduled to make its way to the UAE in the final leg of the show.
