In their eagerness to see their favourite stars, Bollywood fans can get quite rowdy -- as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan discovered in Kolkata on Sunday.

The actress, who was in the eastern Indian city promoting her upcoming film, 'Guzaarish' (see our interview here), escaped being mobbed after a group of fans broke security rules at a cinema where she was making an appearance, according to the Times of India.

The doors and windows of the venue were broken down by people who went berserk to get a glimpse of the superstar. However, the security guards made sure that things did not go out of control and checked the mob before they could encircle Aishwarya.

The experience must have left her shaken, though.

She reportedly told organisers she wanted to head back to Mumbai immediately, although the rest of the film's team stayed on.

However, when organisers managed to find her a business class ticket, Rai wouldn't travel -- apparently she is always escorted by a personal bodyguard.

Local media said the former Miss World insisted she wouldn't go anywhere without her security team, and the film's producers were forced to find her another flight, getting a ticket for one guard.

Given the sort of madness she faced at the Kolkata cinema, we're not surprised she needs to be guarded at all times.
