Remember the Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, The Macarena, Silly Putty, Nintendo N64?

Then you’ll surely remember that famous summer song ‘Mysterious Girl’ by Peter Andre.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Peter said, “It’s a feel good song with a reggae influence which I love, and I’m very grateful that every year they still play it as a summer anthem.”

The Australian singer, songwriter, businessman and TV personality is very much still in the news.
He’s also been a very busy man. The father of three has just finished touring the UK.

He’s worked on a song for the Dreamworks animated movie ‘Mr. Peabody & Sherman’, he’s currently working with Disney on a future project and he is also set to launch a Christmas album.

Peter explained, “It’s very different from anything I’ve done, I’m singing a lot deeper, it’s more of an old school feel,  Bing Crosby and Elvis style, 1920s and 30s sound, I think ‘Last Christmas’ by Wham is still fantastic.”

The Australian is set to thrill the crowds along with other 90s pop groups 5ive and B*witched, at the upcoming ‘90s Rewind MixTape’ this weekend at the Emirates Golf Club.

Fans still recall Andre’s international hit ‘Mysterious Girl’, especially that music video where one couldn’t help but notice Andre’s chiselled six-pack grace the screen.
Peter said, “There was no one doing pop music videos with their shirt off, I thought of the idea of doing it, I was adamant about it, and it worked, the videos got so much play, it was my decision, but then, I will always get compared to that, which makes me train harder.”

He explained that at the time, he was doing 1,000 sit-ups six to seven times a week, in the mornings, afternoons and nights.

He is used to working this hard. Andre also shared his experience at receiving an offer at such a young age.

“My mom and dad were so strict with me and didn’t want me to do this, I got offered a recording deal on national TV when I was 16, but dad wanted me to go to university and study architecture, I just wanted to do music," explained Peter.

He continued, “When I got the offer, cad said you can do it, but not until you’re allowed to sign your own contract, so I did it when I was 18, I was so upset with dad but now I’m so grateful so I’ve passed that onto my kids.”

Andre’s last performance in Dubai was in the late 90s, but he’s been a regular visitor to the city, and one that he loves. He still remembers his first visit.

“Our hosts looked after us very well, they took us around and showed us Dubai then, before it became a touristy thing, they took us and I fell in love with it, had a true Arabian night experience.”

Peter explained, “I love Dubai, when I used to come here, first of all it was the old Dubai, which I loved, then when it developed I wanted to check the nightlife and what I love is that there’s no tolerance for violence, no tolerance for drugs on the street, and I loved that, because I felt really safe, like a teenager again, because when we were kids going out in Australia it used to be safe like that.”
