Tamil star Vijay’s big-budget fantasy flick ‘Puli’ has hit a speedbump, with its release delayed.

However, there is no official word yet on the reason behind the decision to stall its release.

The morning shows in the UAE were cancelled, but local movie showcaser Vox Cinemas confirmed the release later today. Its timing is still unclear.

The film’s overseas distributor Atmus Entertainment tweeted to Emirates24|7, confirming that the UAE release has been cleared for now.

Directed by Chimbu Deven, the film stars Vijay, Sridevi, Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani among others.

Some reports in the Indian media claim the makers of ‘Puli’ are yet to clear dues to Qube (the company responsible for streaming movies digitally).

Others cite recent raids by Income Tax officials on the movie stars and financiers for their inability to receive clearance from exhibitors.

This morning, Atmus Entertainment had tweeted: “Puli local distributors will not allow overseas release without local clearance. Money from Telugu distributor pending to close financier.”

They later added that Vijay had stepped out of his house, following the IT raid, and has agreed to clear all dues.
