Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram to become father again

Former Pakistani fast bowling legend Wasim Akram to be a father again as his Australian wife Shaniera Akram is expecting.

The former left arm pacer married the Melbourne-born Shaniera Aug 12 last year.

The marriage was solemnised in the presence of immediate family and a few close friends in Lahore.

However, the former Pakistani captain announced the news on social networking site Twitter Monday.

"I am thrilled to announce that @iamShaniera and I are expecting our first child together. Thank you for your wishes&prayers #babyontheway," tweeted Akram.

Shaniera Akram wrote on her twitter page: "Wasim & I couldn't be happier sharing our wonderful news.Thank you for all your wishes #babyontheway".

She continued, "Our boys, family and friends are very excited and we look forward to a happy healthy arrival early next year InshAllah".

The 48-year-old married his first wife Huma in 1995. The couple had two sons. However, Huma died of multiple organ failure in Chennai Oct 25, 2009.
