The simple and sober Rani from the film Queen is now Revolver Rani. The soft spoken girl from Queen will now play a bold character called Alka Singh who loves the gun and fun. Essaying the role of a politician in the film Kangna Ranaut had to learn subtle nuances of shooting with the gun for the film.

“That character was very difficult and especially with the whole gun thing because I just couldn’t identify with Revolver Rani for longest time. The role is that of a very dark and layered character and pretty hard to identify with,” says the actress.

Having said that Kangna is quite happy with the final outcome of the Sai Kabir directed film. “I think eventually the film has shaped up good and I am looking forward to it,” she says.

The story of Revolver Rani also moves around the character of Kangna. This will be the third film in success for Kangna where she plays the lead role, after Rajjo and Queen. But then, Kangna believes that the film is more of a concept based cinema rather than something that talks about women empowerment.

“They should do more of high concept films. It’s not about doing women centric films. I wouldn’t want to be in a film just because it’s a women centric film. I would love to be in a film that is new fresh and lot more pleasurable than just a woman thing,” she opines.

Revolver Rani is directed by Sai Kabir and stars Kangna opposite stand-up comedian turned actor Vir Das. Kangna is impressed by Vir who plays a married man who is her toyboy.

“He is a very good comedian and he does lot of stand up shows and I have heard his shows are brilliant. He is playing my toy boy in the film. He is a pretty convincing toy boy I must say,” she smiles.

The political thriller film has a lot of drama and action along with the dark humour. But then Kangna is quick to call the film a love story.

“I think from people should expect a dark love story with a lot of drama from the film. It’s got dark humor and some action and beautiful songs,” asserts the actress.

After winning the National Award for the best supporting actress for the film Fashion, expectations from Kangna have increased manifold. After Tanu Weds Manu she has recently impressed one and all with Queen. And now she would hope to raise the bar higher.
