Bollywood actress and TV show host Gauhar Khan was left shell-shocked when a member of the audience walked up to her, teased and slapped her for wearing skimpy clothes.

While Gauhar was hosting grand finale of 'India's Raw Star', a reality show, this man took over the role of morale policing.

Gauhar was attacked and threatened by a man identified as Mohammed Akil Malik who said that, "being a Muslim woman, she should not have worn such a short dress", according to police.

The accused slapped and touched her inappropriately during the commercial break of the show, but was immediately overpowered by the security guards deployed there, following which the police were notified.

Appalled by the man's brazenness, very few Bollywood celebrities have come out in support of the 'Bigg Boss 7' winner.

Condemning the incident some celebs took to Twitter to express their anger and outrage.

However, social media, by and large seems to have ignored the morale policing.

On other occasions the social media army is up in arms with slightest of provocation. Topics and incidents starts to trend in no time often changing the course of action by groups and individuals.

Why is the film fraternity not reacting to what happened with Gauhar then?

Most of the celebrities, who are usually known to express anger or at least an opinion in such matters, remained silent.

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, Karan Johar, who are known to express their unhinged opinion on everything also remained silent.

The biggest voice of Indian cinema on Twitter with over 11 million followers, Amitabh Bachchan, didn't share his view on the incident.

Gauhar was the winner of reality show 'Bigg Boss 7' last year and the host Salman Khan spoke about cleanliness issue in the city (Mumbai) but seemed oblivious about what happened with her.

Aamir Khan who hosts popular television show 'Satyamev Jayate' which has talked about women harassment and tries to awaken public against the evils of society also kept quiet on the issue.

Popular voices on social media like Deepika Padukone and Sonakshi Sinha recently waged war against unacceptable episodes that involved them.

They fought against groups and individuals who tried to demean their self-respect.

Twitteratis and media debated on these issues faced by the two actresses, and they garnered massive supports with trends like #IStandWithDeepikaPadukone.

When it was about another actress who has been physically violated Sonakshi and Deepika kept mum. Not a word for their millions of followers.

This time there was no hashtag started and there were barely any tweets in support of Gauhar.

Is it because Gauhar Khan is not as big a name as Sonakshi and Deepika?

Do only big names in the industry deserve support from their colleagues?
