Bollywood actress Preity Zinta’s accusation against former boyfriend Ness Wadia has stroked a dormant topic of women modesty.

Zinta filed case for outraging modesty of a woman and the Preity-Ness mess has taken Bollywood by surprise.

While some wonder why the actress did not step ahead earlier, there are other speculations of why no one else from the film fraternity has stepped ahead to support Miss Zinta.

Established Indian writer, columnist Shobhaa De in her blog wrote: "Let's be honest: It takes guts to file an FIR against a powerful person who has allegedly been abusive in public.

"Abuse is abuse - verbal, physical, sexual. This is not a fight between equals. Pitted against Zinta is a wealthy, well-connected, individual.

"Zinta will find herself increasingly isolated, not just by her own film industry colleagues (evasive!), but even by those in her social circuit. That's Mumbai."

And that's exactly what we are witnessing. The film fraternity is measuring each word before speaking on the scandal.

Both Salman Khan and Shah Rukh appeared to be evasive when asked about their response on the Preity Zinta case.

Both the superstars have been co-stars of Zinta in their past films and continue to be friends with her till date.

Shah Rukh Khan acknowledged the question, although he did not say much. SRK said, "It's a personal issue. It's an issue she has brought up and I assume it will be dealt legally. As a friend of hers, I will just talk to her."

Salman Khan dodges the question and refuses to say anything about it.

Salman told the journalist, "You are in a wrong place!" He further told the journalist, "Only you are interested in knowing about this issue."

Bollywood speaks:

An Indian Daily published comments from Bollywood.

Actor Saif Ali Khan: "I mean if she needs my support, I don't think this is the for me the right place to talk about, but I mean she always has my support. But Ness is a friend too, so I don't know what's happened and as far as I am concerned he has always been a gentleman. I have no idea exactly what happened, so I need to keep an open mind till I do know what's happened. It is a very unfortunate incident, they are both friends."

Filmmaker Kiran Rao responded: "It's unfortunate to hear that, it is always awful to hear someone from the film fraternity feel they are alone. So I hope she doesn't feel alone. This is a very personal issue though. I mean I can't comment on the issue because I don't know the details of it but I do hope she manages to resolve the issue first."

Filmmaker Karan Johar: "Of course, needless to say that my friendship with her is not only professional, but also deeply personal and she will always have my love and unconditional support."

Actor Abhay Deol: "I've known her for many years and I would take it seriously, whatever she says. Though I don't know what exactly has happened so I can't comment but definitely if she is going through a hard time and what she's saying is true, we should all support her."

Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh: "I've known her really for a long time, she is a great girl and you know all the support she ever needs is always with us."

Brave Preity:

Preity Zinta is one such Bollywood brave actress who never had fear for standing for the right and condemning the wrong-doers.

The actress is known for putting her stance in front of the world regardless of consequences.

In the year 2000, Preity entered the industry with a very controversial film Kundan Shah's Kya Kehna which had her playing an unwed mother. The film got delayed Preity was first seen in Mani Rathnam's Dil Se where she shocked the nation and made Shah Rukh blush by asking him if he was a virgin.

In 2001 she played a prostitute who turns a surrogate mother to Salman Khan's child in Abbas-Mustan's Chori Chori Chupke Chupke

In 2003 she stunned the nation by testifying against the underworld in court. No other Bollywood denizen male or female dared to do the same.

In 2005 Preity filed a defamation suit against a Mumbai tabloid for publishing a transcript of a tape allegedly featuring the voice of Salman Khan speaking in less than respectful tones about her.

In 2007 Suchitra Krishnamoorthy accused Preity of being the cause of her marriage with Shekhar Kapoor breaking up. Preity retaliated by calling Suchitra "unstable"
