It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the "King Khan of Bollywood", Shah Rukh Khan is indeed the King among his male colleagues when it comes to charging the highest remuneration.

An industry source has revealed to Emirates 24|7 that Bollywood's Shah Rukh Khan was paid over $2 million (Dh7.34 million) to become the brand ambassador for a Dh2.3 billion The Royal Estate project in Dubai Investment Park.

“Shah Rukh Khan was paid $2 million plus to endorse the real estate project in Dubai. We all know he has a great fan following and he as a brand ambassador brings investors from all over the globe, particularly the sub-continent,” the source said.

Parvez Khan, Chairman, Pacific Ventures, one of the partner’s in the project, declined to comment.

Aristocratic Star and PAL Developments are the other partners.

During the launch of Royal Estates in August, Shah Rukh, the second richest actor in the world, with a personal wealth of $600 million, said: “I will bring in the eyeballs, I will bring in the interest and I will bring in the people but the value will be brought in by the product itself.

“The product is more important than the endorsement. If I was to sit down and say if the other products I have endorsed have done well because of me I am taking away the goodness of product.”

His interior designer wife Gauri Khan has been awarded the designing role of the township.

Gauri will handle the entire home decor for the townhouses in the 2.3 million square foot gated community.

“There is a good interest in our project. We will be commencing construction of phase 1 soon and start selling thereafter,” Parvez Khan told Emirates 24|7.

Phase one, which comprises 200 townhouses and a residential tower of nearly 200 units, will be delivered during the first quarter of 2016.

During the property boom period, developers had signed up Deepika Padukone and Omar Sharif to endorse their projects in Dubai and Ajman, respectively.

Sporting legends Boris Becker, Niki Lauda and Michael Schumacher have had towers named after them in the emirate.
