Indian cricketer Virat Kohli shrugged off the pressure that always surrounds an India-Pakistan match to secure a campaign-reviving six-wicket victory for the host nation in the World Twenty20 on Saturday.

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni smashed a six to level the scores and then took a single to seal victory with 13 balls to spare as India maintained an unbeaten World Cup record against their arch-rivals.

61,000-plus crowd erupted at the Eden Gardens to celebrate and millions of fans took to social media to express their joy.

But in all the merry-making India's tennis ace Sania Mirza was the casualty.

Mirza, who is one of the most celebrated sports personalities in India, also happens to be Pakistani cricket player Shoaib Malik's wife.

And hence she is the de facto target of social media hoodlums during India-Pakistan match.

Pakistan found the going difficult but Malik's blistering 26 runs of 16 balls helped Pakistan put up a meagre total of 118.

As Shoaib Malik started belting the Indian bowlers around the ground, an unexpected victim of his onslaught was his wife.

Mirza married Malik in 2010 and has been the subject of much trolling from cricket fans ever since.

The tennis player started trending all over India even before the match was over.

The champions of social media who consider themselves 'Jack of all topics...' had some bizarre comments to post.

When these social media nuisance have no cricketing inputs to provide, they turn to targetting individuals.

Mirza was not pleased.

But she is an exemplary sportsperson and her tweets prove that.
