India's popular comedy show 'Comedy Nights With Kapil' to go off-air

Speculations have been rife that the hit Indian comedy television show 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' might go off- air; now we have confirmation from the host and producer of the show Kapil Sharma himself.

Kapil Sharma confirmed the news on Twitter: "‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ is going off air from September.. We will come back with new characters and new set..Till then… Keep smiling,” he wrote on the
micro-blogging site.

Luckily for his fans, the show is not getting cancelled permanently, it's just taking a break and will return will new characters, new concept and a new set..

He also thanked the host channel, its head Raj Nayak via twitter.

Ever since Kapil signed with Yash Raj Films to work in his first full-fledged movie, 'Bankchor', the industry was rife with rumours that the comedian will cut down on his TV appearances and shows in order to accommodate the film's shooting.

The most possible solution which worked for both Kapil and the channel seemed to be Comedy Nights moving back to its once-a-week format from the current two shows a week one.

But things didn't work out and last week news emerged that the channel has refused to turn the show into a once-a-week affair.

Creating two months bank episodes was also not possible as most guests/stars who come on his show do so when they are promoting their films.

The show also features other comedy artists like Ali Asgar and Kiku Sharda, both of whom play female characters on the show.

The show has featured many superstars on it including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan , Madhuri Dixit and Akshay Kumar. Apart from actors promoting their films, the show has also witnessed cricketers and few other celebrities as guests.

Hopefully for his fans, he will back with the show soon as he promises.
