John and I are 'Queens' of Bollywood: Abhishek

Abhishek Bachchan stepped into the year with two back to back films, ‘Game’ and ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ with none of them hitting the jackpot. But after ‘Paa’s’ success, Aby Baby has again taken on the producer’s role for his father’s next flick, ‘Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap’ (‘BHTB’). Besides Amitabh Bachchan, the movie stars Sonu Sood and Sonal Chauhan. Talking in a typical producer’s tone, Abhishek says, “I have seen the film and I think it has come out great. I know one thing for sure that ‘mera baap buddha nahin hai’ (my father is not an old man).”

With this movie, Amitabh will once again be seen in the angry man avatar. The promos of ‘BHTB’ have been received well by the audience making it an eagerly awaited film. Many people have been comparing the look of Amitabh Bachchan in the movie with that of Salman Khan. “Nobody can replace Amitabh Bachchan, forget about trying. As far as I am concerned, I believe that there in only one Amitabh in the film industry and that is Amitabh Bachchan. The line starts from where he stands,” says the Big B’s son confidently. Besides lending the monies, Abhishek Bachchan has also lent his voice and sung a song in the film.

Apart from playing the producer, Abhishek is working on his next film ‘Players’ which is in the shooting stage. Also the actor is eagerly awaiting more updates on ‘Dostana 2’. Rumour mills were abuzz with talks of a catfight between Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif for ‘Dostana 2’. “If Priyanka and Katrina are fighting with each other then I think we should make a movie on the fight so you would know what is more entertaining,” says Abhishek jokingly. When asked if the cast for the film is decided, Abhishek says, “I don’t know. I will have to ask Tarun (Mansukhani, director). From what I know, ladies have not been cast in ‘Dostana 2’. Since John and I are there, I don’t think the ladies will have much to do anyway. As for Karan, everyone on his show (‘Koffee With Karan’) is fighting to be the King of Bollywood, but John and I are the Queens of Bollywood. So it does not matter. Let there be a dog fight.”

Recently Abhishek’s wife Aishswarya Rai Bachchan started shooting for Madhur Bhandarkar’s film ‘Heroine’. And news was that Abhishek was to be cast opposite Aishwarya in this film which is supposed to reveal the truth about the glamour world. But a complete denial about being offered the movie comes as a surprise. “I was never offered the movie. Madhur Bhandarkar never told me anything. As far as I know he came to cast my wife and not me,” says Abhi. For the records, a couple of movies old Arunoday Singh will now be playing the lead opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

If not for ‘Heroine’, the couple will be seen together in Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Ladies And Gentlemen’ which is a romantic comedy. Presently the movie is in its pre-production stage as AbhiAsh are busy working on different projects. “I am very excited because ‘Ladies And Gentlemen’ has a fantastic script. Though we have not yet started working on the film. But it is going to be very funny and hopefully the audience will laugh a lot,” says Abhishek.

His actor in ‘Bbuddah’, Sonu Sood had recently criticised the bold lyrics ‘Bhaag DK Bose’ of ‘Delhi Belly’. Some more like director Anubhav Sinha too came down heavily on it. What does Abhishek have to say about the latest trend?

I feel it has got nothing to do with the lyrics. In fact today we have fantastic lyrics which are totally apt. To be able to talk to the audience, you need to know their language. The current generation will not understand what you want to say unless you speak in their language. So I think it is perfectly fine to use such lyrics but remember songs are not the mantra as to why movies are doing so well.”
