Dark spells doom for girls, especially in the Sub-continent, who are hoping to meet their soul mates, entering celluloid or making it to the cover of a magazine.

In a society obsessed with 'white skin' fairness is still the benchmark for beauty.

There are several Bollywood actors who get lured by the fat remunerations for endorsing fairness products, including the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Yami Gautam, John Abraham, Katrina Kaif who have promoted products that claim to help lighten skin tone.

But actress Kangana Ranaut, who is busking in glory of 'Queen' and 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns', knows how to say no.

Earlier, the actress has refused to endorse a fairness cream brand as she does not believe in the idea of fairness.

At the moment Kangana is in Paris for the French release of 'Queen'.

In an interview to a channel, France 24, the outspoken actress expressed her great displeasure for promoting fairness creams by actors.

Kangana added she feels ashamed that such kinds of the products are endorsed by her colleagues.

"It's very sad and I find it extremely humiliating because we're a country of beautiful people. Women should not be subjected to this discrimination. They're just stripped off their confidence and self-worth by such creams. I oppose it and I'm very ashamed that many celebs support it and endorse it."

Ranaut further explained how the advertisements in India depict darker skinned people as having great difficulties in terms of employment, marriage prospects and relationships. And after discovering the fairness cream, they turn fair and things change for good.

"It is so painful that you can't sit through it. I call it criminal but many actors and models endorse them,” said the 'Katti Batti' actress.
