Kareena Kapoor is one Bollywood actress who does not believe in mincing her words and speaking her heart out. Recently while supporting the cause for women’s’ safety, Kareena openly shared her personal take on it.

“It was me who returned back the call for supporting the cause for women’s safety through this smart phone. I don’t think women’s safety in India is taken care of. With so many rapes happening I don’t feel even Mumbai is safe anymore. I decided to participate for the safety of women owing to so many rapes happening one after the other,” shares the heroine.

She continued in the same vein and added, “The recent rape of a journalist was indeed very shameful. I decided to be the part of this merely because I too have become very scared. Just two buildings next to my house, a lady who is a foreigner was raped recently. I learnt about it through the news channels and papers. Mumbai too has become very unsafe and this feeling has emerged in my heart since the last two years.”

Stressing on education as a panacea, Kareena says, “Yes, we need to eradicate illiteracy. Not only is it the sick mind of a handful of men who commit such heinous act. But the young adolescent also needs to be taught the lessons right from his primary roots. They need to be educated at the grass root level teaching them specifically that such acts should never even pass their minds. No one is born with a sick mind but owing to lack of knowledge, lack of proper environmental and poverty a man becomes frustrated.” And added, “I took the initiative to reach to people because I believe if the voice of actors can change someone to go ahead with good mind, then why not? I appreciate being associated with the cause of women safety.”

Adding about the feelings of her husband, Saif Ali Khan while she was coming for the meet she added, “Even Saif was eager to join such a good cause. He told me to put forth my mind specifically on this issue so that my thought process can at least bring in a change in the minds of the people. Why not? If being a star my voice can bring in some good changes in the society, I will definitely come ahead for such cause. Very soon I will be joining hands with an educational campaign which will look forward to educate people freely.”

Talking about not caring for security guards she says, “I and Saif always love to walk down to some restaurants late at night where we can relish food of our taste. We do not want to unnecessarily waste time on security guards. Saif and I love to walk our dog in the evenings too.”

Coming back to education for one and all she says, “In UK, free education is imparted especially on sex education also. We here in India need to educate one and all. Free education should be part of a daily course for everyone. I believe this will bring a lot of changes into the minds of men.”

All praises for women she quips, “Yes, we women have a ‘teesri inderi’ (third Eye) i.e women have a little more intelligence in comparison to men. This I say without being biased. So, women can always sense and try to evade such situations even before it could happen. And now with this messaging facilities they can choose people who could get the message immediately while their life in danger.” And added, “Awareness has to be brought in the rural India too. I do message my mom even today on reaching home from the shoot as I do reach home during the wee hours. And if I do not send her the message she gets panicky. Though I am married, yet I keep her updated.”
