What’s going wrong with Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor’s career choices?

At the moment, every move she makes, seems to be going wrong, jinxed or not the right one.

No doubt she has been one of the top stars in Bollywood, having been the first girl to have managed to work with all the three Khans in a calendar year, but then, a lot of ‘wrong’ choices seem to have stalled her progress.

Analyse this.

Bombay Samurai’ vs ‘Rock On’

The breaking news first. It does seem that her film ‘Bombay Samurai’ opposite Farhan Akhtar may be stalled, because Farhan wants to work on the sequel to ‘Rock On’ first.

Kareena was very keen to work with Farhan, but then the actor in Farhan seems to be seeking an important role to play. So Kareena has been left stranded.

Karan Johar misses

Kareena’s statements in the media about whether she will consider ‘Shuddhi’ or not, cost her the film with Karan Johar.

Barring a ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, Kareena has never had a hit in with the KJo camp.

The one big film from KJo that she refused because she wanted more money was ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ and the film went on to establish Preity Zinta as a big star. The film that she signed up was ‘LOC Kargil’ and the film tanked.

Her film ‘Badtameez Dil’ for producers Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar shows no signs of taking off.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Kareena Kapoor made the cardinal mistake of signing up a Priyadarshan flop film like ‘Kyon Ki’ with Salman Khan, when Sanjay Leela Bhansali had planned to cast them together in ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

An angry Bhansali shelved the project. Sanjay offered her a film again a few years later, but then she preferred ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’ with Imran Khan, which eventually flopped.

Yet again Bhansali approached her with a ‘Ram Leela’, which she refused and the role went to Deepika Padukone for her to whip up another Rs100 crore.

Flop start

Kareena Kapoor made a faux pas at the beginning of her career itself by opting out of the Hrithik Roshan starrer ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’ for which she had already shot for a while and opted to act opposite Abhishek Bachchan in ‘Refugee’. ‘Refugee’ was a flop.

Fashion no-no

Madhur Bhandarkar had envisaged his film ‘Fashion’ with Kareena Kapoor who was easily the most fashionable star at that time. But Kareena’s refusal led to Priyanka Chopra getting the role and her first national award. The film that Kareena opted to do was ‘Tashan’, which was a huge flop.
