After spectacular performances by popular Arab and Western singers such as Majida El Roumi, Kazem Al Sahir and Yanni at Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Sharjah is all set to host Grammy Award-winning Spanish singer and songwriter Julio Iglesias.

The Latin legend, who has more than 300 million records in 14 languages and 80 albums to his credit, will be performing on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

With a career spanning nearly five decades, Iglesias, who also happens to be the father of Latin pop sensation Enrique Iglesias, came up with ‘Julio Iglesias’ Milestones’ in 1970 and has not stopped since.

He holds two Guinness World Book of Records distinctions for selling the largest number of records in most languages (1983) and the Best Selling Male Latin Artist (2013).

The Iglesias concert is the latest of Al Majaz Amphitheatre’s initiatives launched as part of Sharjah’s efforts to promote the appreciation of art and nourish cultural sensibilities in the Emirate.

Inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah in 2014, the Roman colosseum-style amphitheatre opened with the spectacular premiere of epic oratorio Clusters of Light, telling the remarkable story of Islam’s evolution and its essential message of peace and humanity.

Al Majaz Amphitheatre has since hosted a galaxy of Arab and International artists.

The latest concert by Iglesias will be another feather in the cap for the artiste, who has been performing since 1976, following his debut performance at Madison Square Gardens in New York, followed by  record-breaking performances in Chile, Japan, Brazil, Colombia and around the world.

Tickets for the Julio Iglesias concert are available on Ticketmaster.
