Mammotty, Kavya Madhavan bag Asiavision awards

Malayalam superstar Mammotty and Kavya Madhavan will be awarded the Asiavision movie awards for the best actor and actress category of 2013 on November 15 at a glittering ceremony in Dubai Festival City.

Many South Indian stars and cine artists make it to the list of winners of 35 award categories of the 7th edition of Asiavision Film Awards.

Film enthusiasts vote the winners from the Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi movies.

Every year a bevy of superstars and celebrities visit Dubai for an entertaining night during the Asiavision Film Awards.

Among the long list of Asiavision Award winners are many Malayalam actors, directors, playback singers, music directors and cinematographers including two leading expatriate artists from the UAE.

RJ Nyla Usha from Malayalam Radio Station in Dubai and journalist turned director/actor Joy Mathew will also be awarded Nov 15.

The expatriate artists won the award for their respective roles in 'Kunjananthante Kada' and 'Shutter'/'Ameen'.

Joy Mathew, an expatriate who joined the Malayalam film industry as a debut director and actor won best Anti-hero award for the movie Amen.

He has also won the best debut director for 'Shutter', which was premiered in Dubai International Film Festival and was running for 100 days in Kerala theatres.

Nyla Usha, a budding heroine from the UAE, won Best Debut award for her role in the movie 'Kunjananthante Kada'.

The main tussle for the best actor award was between Mammotty and Prithviraj.

Bollywood actor John Abraham will receive the Icon of the year award, while Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta, R Madhavan and Kajal Aggarwal won applause in the Bollywood and Kollywood categories of awards.

Kavya Madhavan has been voted the best actress award for her flawless acting in the movie 'Bavuttiyude Namathil'.

90-years-old, legendary composer and singer M S Vishwanathan will be honored with a Life Time achievement award. 

The Award night at Dubai festival city on November 15th Friday is expected to be watched by 15,000 people live and millions of viewers through television.

The award winners are picked up based on a marathon media campaign through various channels and are voted through a dedicated website and SMS.
