The last time an Indian beauty won the Miss Universe title was Lara Dutta in 2000.

Since then Indian beauty queens have had a dismal performance; many not even making it to the Top 16 contestants.

Miss India 2013, Manasi Moghe lost the run for the Miss Universe 2013 crown on Saturday, continuing India's 13-year-long dry to take home the crown.

The top 10 contestants were Miss Spain, Miss Philippines, Miss Great Britain, Miss India, Miss Brazil, Miss USA, Miss Ukraine, Miss Ecuador, Miss Venezuela, Miss Dominican Republic.

However, she couldn't make it to the top five at the 62nd edition of the Miss Universe pageant held at Crocus City Hall in Moscow.

Miss Venezuela Gabriela Isler won the coveted Miss Universe 2013 crown on Saturday night, beating 85 other contenders from around the world at a glittering ceremony.

Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo of USA crowned the new beauty queen.

The Miss Universe panel of judges included the likes of American singer- songwriter Steven Tyler, Russian-born supermodel Anne Vyalitsyna, simply known as Anne V, American model and actress Carol Alt, chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, Farouk Shami- founder of the hair-care and spa products company, Farouk Systems and renowned American figure skater Tara Lipinski.
