After Janet Jackson, it is now heavy metal band Metallica’s turn to get Abu Dhabi fans head banging to their beats in October.

The band’s official website, Metallica.com, confirms its concert on October 25 on Yas Island, with the organisers being Flash Entertainment.

Tickets have gone on sale since 12pm UAE time on September 13 on Thinkflash.ae, according to Metallica.com. However, log on to the organisers' site and a 'busy' message welcomes eager beavers planning to nab tickets before they sell out. Good news for Met Club members is, they can log in and check the club news section for a password to guarantee access to the front ‘Fan Pit’ section at Yas.

The band appears excited about their UAE stint, posting on its website: “We're continuing to find firsts in 2011 as we are extremely excited to announce that we will be playing in Abu Dhabi on October 25 at Yas Island. After 30 years of travel to all corners of the earth, this one is extra special as the show kicks off a week of new territories for us as this show will be followed by two nights in India.”

Shatha Al Romaithi, a spokesperson for the organisers, said Metallica in Abu Dhabi was one show rock fans could not afford to miss.

“We promised you more big things for the new season of Yas Island Show Weekends, and nothing is bigger than Metallica,” she said. “Metallica has redefined the model for hard rock music.”

Formed in 1981, over the years, the four-member band has seen several changes in its line-up, however, James Hetfield (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and Lars Ulrich (drums, percussion) have been steady figures.  Kirk Hammett (lead guitar, backing vocals) joined the band in 1983, while Robert Trujillo (bass, backing vocals) signed up in 2003.

Aside from the usual hit numbers, including “Until It Sleeps”, “One” and “Better Than You” and almost all the tracks from its smash hit a,bum, “Death Magnetic”, the American band should certainly give us a sneaky peek into their new album, “Lulu”, which has been recorded with the legendary Lou Reed and will be released on October 31 worldwide and November 1 in North America.
