26-year-old beauty from North Cotabato, Mary Jean Lastimosa, was crowned the Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2014.

Lastimosa got third time lucky and finally won the crown at the annual beauty pageant's grand coronation night held at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.

Mary Anne Guidotti from Taguig City was crowned Binibining International 2014.

The 24-year-old is a graduate from Ateneo de Manila University and is currently works as a technical assistant of the executive director at the humanitarian organization Community and Family Services International.

During the question-and-answer round, Lastimosa was asked by reigning Miss Universe Queen Gabriela Isler, "What is the greatest advantage of being a woman?"

Lastimosa answered: "The greatest advantage of being a woman is being able to compose herself. Just like here, we're standing in front of thousands of people, not knowing if you're going to cheer for us or boo us. But we try to compose ourselves. We keep the emotions and show the beauty that is in us and tonight, thousands of people are standing here, celebrating the beauty of women."

Guidotti was asked, "Should you win one of the titles, how would you use your crown to push for your advocacy?"

"If I win a title, I would use my crown to urge people to adopt their own advocacies. I want people to be passionate about it—something really close to their hearts," the runner up answered.

Meanwhile, Kris Tiffany Janson, a 24-year-old financial analyst, was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental.

She is the first to win this new title.

An Albay native, Yvethe Marie Santiago, won the Binibining Pilipinas Supranational 2014 title.

The Binibining Pilipinas Tourism 2014 title went to 25-year-old registered nurse, Parul Shah.

The daughter of Dubai-based Filipina and Indian expats made it as one of the 15 finalists in last year's pageant but failed to bag a title.

Asked during the question-and-answer round what current event or latest news affects her, she answered, "I'll have to say it's [the news] about the Malaysia Airlines [flight] that went down. My sincere love and compassion goes out to all the families who lost their love ones. All I can say is that we shouldn't lose faith in God."

Expectations are high this year following the recent success of the Philippines in the international beauty pageant scene.

Last year, the country brought home three beauty pageant titles: Mutya Johanna Datul won Miss Supranational, Bea Rose Santiago won Miss International, and Megan Young won Miss World.

Among the judges in this year's Bb. Pilipinas include reigning Miss Universe titleholder Gabriela Isler, ABS-CBN channel head Cory Vidanes, news anchor Korina Sanchez, collegiate basketball player Jeron Teng, and senator Juan Edgardo Angara, among others.
