Mona Singh dares to turn down Karan Johar's film offer at last minute

Talk about (telly) star tantrums. Mona Singh has allegedly irked celebrated filmmaker Karan Johar by unceremoniously turning down his movie offer last minute.

According to an Indian tabloid, the telly star had apparently kept Karan hanging for a while.

First, she signed up to play the mommy role in his movie ‘Gippi’, but later, just a week before the filming commenced in Shimla, she “backed out”.

It is reported that Mona turned cold feet over playing mom to a teenager.

With very little time on hand, the filmmakers approached Divya Dutta, who took on the part without a fuss.

In a statement issued to the Indian film director Sonam Nair confirmed the casting trouble.

“Yes, this happened. She (Mona) said she would do the film and then thought over her decision again.”

Mona’s acting career on the telly spiralled up after she played the geeky Jassi in ‘Jassi Jasi Koi Nahi’. She even did a Bollywood stint, as Kareena Kapoor’s sister in the hugely successful ‘3Idiots’.

‘Gippi’ is a film that centres around a teenager’s angst and conflict, and has Lalit Modi’s niece playing a prominent role.

Isn’t acting all about exploring the unknown? What do you think? Is Mona justified in abandoning Karan Johar?
