Move over Salman Khan, John Abraham is the new shirtless hero

The shirtless menace spread across in Bollywood by actor Salman Khan is finally threatened by another hunk John Abraham.

The first trailer of 'Shootout at Wadala' starring John is out and the actor stuns in the action sequences from the gangster flick and looks promising in his Manya Surve's shirtless physique.

Earlier when Salman Khan used to take his shirts off on-screen; one could almost hear a wave of sigh in the theatres from his ardent fans.

A shirtless Salman with a washboard abs would create a frenzy; knowing this he would happily oblige in every alternate screens.

However, of late he has been keeping his body covered. The actor, who turned 47, is evidently worried about his increasing mid-riff.

So in comes John with his shirtless avatar to make women go weak at the knees.

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta said his film 'Shootout at Wadala' will have protagonist Manya Surve, played by John Abraham, as the first shirtless mafia don in Bollywood.

John makes gangsters also look hot. A far cry from the shabby, sinewy, trigger-happy gangsters seen in Bollywood by the dozen, John Abraham makes for a volcanically hot gangster Manya Surve.

Flaunting his rippling muscles, eye-popping abs and biceps, the brawny and bulgy John also gives a packed performance with heavy dialogue delivery.

In 'Shootout At Wadala' John essays the role of a Maharashtrian character on the wrong side of the law.

The film has been mostly shot in slums in Mumbai.

John Abraham is playing a gangster called Manya Surve who was shot dead in Wadala, Mumbai. 'Shootout At Wadala' is the unbelievable true story of the first ever encounter in Bombay. An epic story, with overwhelming machismo.

It outlines the rampant gang wars in Bombay and culminates in an explosive 3-way face-off between the dreaded gangster Dawood, the notorious & charismatic gangster Manya Surve & Inspector Isaaque Bagwaan.

The film will dramatise the first-ever registered encounter by Mumbai police, where Surve was shot, which took place at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Sangam Nagar, Wadala on 1 November 1982.
 
It is a sequel to 2007 Bollywood film 'Shootout at Lokhandwala' based on the book Dongri to Dubai written by Hussain Zaidi.

Apart from John, the film has Anil Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor and Sonu Sood. Priyanka Chopra will also be appearing in a cameo appearance and an item number-mujra song.

The film is slated to release in May 1.
