The usually calm and composed Deepika Padukone didn't have a quiet, peaceful Sunday thanks to a leading Indian daily.

She was furious and up in arms against the daily on Twitter which published a rather demeaning piece of news about her dressing at an event.

Deepika Padukone had worn a low cut dress designed by Anaita Shroff Adajania for the trailer of launch of ‘Chennai Express’ last year. This dress had come under the daily’s scanner for the low cut design.
The daily, on Sunday morning, reframed and retweeted the photo-story.

When Deepika got to read the tweet followed by a picture gallery of similar dressing faux-pas, she lost her calm and gave the news portal a befitting reply.

The actress was not ready to be humiliated.

Deepika has over 7 million followers on Twitter and in almost no time her tweetS spread like wildfire.

As I-stand-with-Deepika was trending social media in India, the daily was bearing the brunt at the receiving end.

The Newspaper later put out another tweet justifying their video in question.

They wrote: 'It's a compliment. You look so great that we want to make sure everyone knew.'

Their attempt to calm down the public out-lash backfired as many thought it was crass to call it a 'compliment'; and this ensued another round of  criticisms for TOI.

As Deepika Padukone lashed out at a leading daily newspaper for objectification of women's body by tweeting about her cleavage, Bollywood and other celebs stood in support of the 'Finding Fanny' actress and praised her courage to speak out.

Priyanka Chopra: Well done @deepikapadukone ! Taken a stand for all of us. Xoxo
