One Direction(less): Zayn Malik quits tour; no show in Dubai concert?

The rumours doing the rounds of One Direction falling apart has finally come true.

While there were reports of Harry Styles bowing out, it turns out Zayn Malik is taking a hiatus from the band's world tour.

It was confirmed earlier yesterday that the 22-year-old singer had been "signed off with stress" and had flown back to the UK but his other bandmates - Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson - are said to be "stunned" but fully "supportive" of Zayn's decision.

Zayn Malik has quit the world tour and returned home to Britain as the rest of the band go on to play shows from the Philippines to South Africa, through Europe and the United States.

There is no word on when he will return.

The English-Irish pop boy band is scheduled to perform in Dubai at The Sevens Stadium on April 4, 2015 as part of their 'On The Road Again’ tour.

So in all probability Zayn Malik will not accompany his band members in Dubai.

Organised by Done Events, the concert, which will be the largest ever staged in the UAE and is the bands only Middle East date sold out in just 22-days when the tickets went on sale last May.

Emirates247 tried to get in touch with Done Events but could not get any comment on the latest development before publishing this report.

Band's PR representative Simon Jones tweeted, "Zayn has been signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate. The band wish him well and will continue with their performances in Manila and Jakarta.”

The news of Zayn's departure from the tour follows swiftly after rumors broke that Zayn was cheating on his fiance Little Mix popstar Perrie Edwards.

A picture of him hold hands with another girl in Thailand,  while in another the two posed with his arm around her stomach went viral.

Zayn denied the rumours on Twitter, but seems like the backlash has gotten to him.

Malik spoke out against speculation about their relationship by declaring his love for his fiancee.

"I'm 22 years old... I love a girl named Perrie Edwards. And there's a lot of jealous f***s in this world I'm sorry for what it looks like x" Malik wrote in a Tweet to his 14.1 million followers.

His fellow band mates have not explicitly addressed the recent events on social media, though Liam Payne tweeted "What a day”.

A source told HollywoodLife.com: "She was furious about the pictures of him holding hands with an attractive blonde fan, and delivered an ultimatum to leave the tour and fix their relationship.

"Zayn's been away on a world tour and it's difficult for them to maintain their commitment when they aren't together. Perrie reiterated, 'Get home if you want to sort this mess out, or we're done.'"

Malik's departure is not the first time One Direction has had to perform without him. In November, he did not make an appearance on the ‘Today' show due to a stomach issue. While host Matt Lauer asked the band if his absence was related to substance abuse, both the band and Malik have denied these claims.

Malik has been working on new music with UK artist Naughty Boy. The producer and songwriter revealed to The Independent that the pair have written several songs together, including one titled 'One Chance to Dance' to be recorded by One Direction.

One of the world's biggest pop music acts, One Direction will continue their world tour, which has dates through the summer before finishing with a string of sold-out concerts in Britain.

Due to perform in the Philippines this weekend, the band have had to pay a $4,500 bond each for Malik and Louis Tomlinson which would be forfeit if they used drugs in the southeast Asian country.

A video of Malik, 22 and Tomlinson, 23 apparently smoking marijuana in a car while on tour in Peru went viral last year and shocked the tattooed but baby-faced quintet's hordes of female fans.

Malik, who is from Bradford in northern England, was picked to be in One Direction after each of the band's five members auditioned separately to be on reality TV show X Factor in 2010.
