Pakistani singer/actor Atif Aslam was all set to perform in Pune, (Maharashtra) India on April 25, but changed his mind after Indian political party, Shiv Sena threatened to take action if the event took place.

Shiv Sena, a right party, has often resisted cultural events featuring artists from India's neighbouring country.

Aslam has a sizeable fan following in India.

Over 1000 tickets for the event had been sold, which the organisers said would be refunded.

Surprisingly, the political party has yet to protest against Atif’s next performance scheduled in Ahmedabad on May 10.

Atif has recently performed in various Indian cities including Delhi, Gurgoan, Hyderabad.

According to Indian daily Asian Age, a Shiv Sena leader said that since Pakistan sends terrorists to India, blasting bombs, attacking Parliament, they cannot welcome artistes from the country to perform.

Organiser told reporters that since Shiv Sena opposed the show they cannot proceed with the concert.

Mid-Day quoted the organiser saying, "We belong to the art world. We wanted to do this show. However, the reason for the cancellation is before you."

The Shiv Sena has in the past too opposed performance of Pakistani artists in India over its ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC).
