The controversial American socialite, TV personality and fashion designer Paris Hilton is looking forward to visit the Philippines by early next year, to open a beach club in Metro Manila’s Parañaque City.

“I love the Philippines,” she said, as quoted by Ruben Napales, the Hollywood correspondent of the ‘Philippine Daily Inquirer’. “People there are so sweet. I can’t wait to go back there.”

The 31-year-old hotel heiress, whose scandalous love life a while back had been staple for entertainment news, is scheduled to grace the opening of Azure Beach Club, which she designed for the Century Properties Group as part of its luxury resort.

“I feel so proud,” she said, stressing that she has worked hard for her accomplishments despite the fact that she is part of the Hilton family known for the eponymous hotel chain.

She just opened in Bogota, Colombia the 44th branch of a chain of boutiques that carries her handbags and fashion accessories. “We are opening more, like every month or so,” she revealed.

“I’m definitely following in my family’s footsteps by getting into real estate and the first properties in the Philippines,” Hilton said. “The next branches will be in India, the Middle East and China.”

Her fondness for the Philippines extends to having famous Filipino friends, such as the boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao, the world’s first eight-division champion, and his wife Jinkee, as well as having acquired a taste for Filipino food.

“I love Filipino food,” she said, revealing that she enjoys Filipino delicacies prepared by Filipino-American chef and caterer Lem Balagot and his staff.

She said she has indeed grown up from being a tabloid fodder to a budding business mogul. “I’m staying out of trouble and [avoiding] negative people,” she stressed. “I don’t go out that much anymore, unless it’s for work. I’m happy to be a businesswoman.”
