Priyanka, Ranveer's relationship: First lovers, than sibling now couple

Before your imaginations go wild thinking there's romance brewing between Bollywood actors Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh, put an end to it.

We are talking about the challenging characters these two actors are taking up opposite each other in this cut throat business of Bollywood.

'Gunday' was Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra's first film together as lovers.

Ranveer lauds his 'Gunday' co-star for being professional and efficient on the set and no doubt he is more than happy to share screen space with the actress.

Priyanka and Ranveer will now play siblings in Zoya Akhtar's 'Dil Dhadakne Do' this summer. Initially the role was offered to real-life siblings Kareena Kapoor and brother Ranbir Kapoor.

Priyanka is yet to confirm her involvement with the project but reports suggest that Zoya's brother Farhan Akhtar will play her love interest in the movie.

The latest buzz is that songstress Priyanka will be playing one of the prominent historical characters in the film.

Apparently, the actress has been roped in to reprise the role of Kashibai, Bajirao’s first wife in the film. Ranveer will play the erstwhile Indian king Bajirao while Deeppika Padukone will be seen as his second wife, Mastani.

Priyanka is already working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the Mary Kom biopic which is directed by Omung Kumar.

Incidentally, there are several actors out there who have played siblings, lovers, and a married couple quite effectively.

Shah Rukh Khan played Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's brother in 'Josh' (2000) and he played her lover in 'Mohabbatein' (2000).

Rakhee played Amitabh Bachchan's love-interest in 'Kabhi Kabhie' (1976) and later played his mother in 'Shakti' (1982).

Amitabh also romanced Waheeda Rehman on screen in 'Adalat' (1976) and 'Kabhi Kabhie'. And later, Waheeda played his mother in 'Coolie' (1983).

Jaya Bachchan and Sanjeev Kumar played father-daughter in 'Parichay' (1972), a deaf-mute couple in 'Koshish' (1972) and lovers in 'Anamika' (1973).
