Ranbir Kapoor skips Dubai; set for Barca vs Real 'El Clasico'

Real Madrid meets Barcelona for the 227th time on Sunday in a potentially decisive clash in the La Liga title race.

Challenging Lionel Messi's tiki-taka will be the pacer Cristiano Ronaldo; Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale will show why he is the world’s most expensive player and Barca’s marquee signing, Neymar will not be far behind to show his skills.

With some of the biggest names in the line-up for Sunday's game Bollywood isn't willing to stay put.

Joining the action at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will be Indian actors Ranbir Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur.

A hardcore football fan, Ranbir Kapoor is not willing to miss this match at any cost. After wrapping up his 'Bombay Velvet' schedule in Sri Lanka the actor is set to enjoy some real action.

Back in 2011, FC Barcelona had named Ranbir, a self-proclaimed Barca fan, their Indian brand ambassador.

Although, the 'Barfi!' actor has planned his Spain trip well in advance but his Dubai rendezvous has taken a back seat.

Emirates 24|7 earlier reported that Abhishek Bachchan and Ranbir will come to Dubai on January 31 to play their first ever international football match.

But that never happened.

Organisers Dream Advertising and Ministry of Events have told Emirates 24|7 on January 28 that the match has been postponed and possible dates are under consideration for a reschedule in the last weekend in February or mid-March.

The All Stars Football Club – a property of charitable trust, Playing for Humanity – is spearheaded by Abhishek; and Ranbir and several other celebrities were to play a game of football against the Dubai Royals at the Al Wasl Stadium to raise funds for one of India’s largest non-profit organisations - Magic Bus.

The football match was postponed due to the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) which was held in Dubai on February 1.

CCL saw as many as 50 leading Indian actors from various film industries descending onto Dubai. The centre of attaction was Salman Khan with unmatched star power and fan following.

Organising both the celebrities’ events (football and cricket) in the same weekend would have hampered the bigger cause.

Hence organisers decided to reschedule Ranbir and Abhishek's match.

Dubai never misses the Bollywood glamour with stars continuously streaming in; but watching Ranbir Kapoor play with the ball will be a different treat altogether.
