Actor Rani Mukerji exchanged vows with filmmaker Aditya Chopra in a "beautiful" ceremony in Italy.

The wedding took place on April 21 with only the couple's close friends and family in attendance.

Confirming the same, Rafiq Gangjee, Vice-President Marketing and Communications YRF says, "We are happy to announce that Mr Aditya Chopra and Ms Rani Mukerji got married last night on 21st April in Italy. The wedding was a very small intimate affair with very close family and friends,"

Yash Raj Films has also tweeted: "Aditya Chopra & Rani Mukerji got married last night on 21st April in Italy. We wish the couple a very happy married life."

Among the select guests at the wedding were filmmaker Karan Johar, who directed Rani in her breakthrough film 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' and thereafter in 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna'.

Johar tweeted today: "And finally.Mr and Mrs Chopra.Love you both."

Actor Uday Chopra welcomed his sister-in-law Rani her with a tweet. He tweeted: "We welcome Rani Chopra to the family. Lots of love to the newlyweds."

Few industry sources inform that actor Shah Rukh Khan was aware of the wedding. SRK is very close to both Aditya and Rani.

He sent out his wishes on social media:  "May Allah bless my friends Rani and Adi. May you enjoy the small things my friends for in the end they are the big things. Happy union. Love you."

After staying silent on her affair with Aditya for years Rani finally spoke after the secret wedding.

In a statement she wrote: "I would like to share the happiest day of my life with all my fans all over the world whose love and blessings have been part of my journey all these years.

"I know that all my well-wishers who have waited for this day will be really happy for me. It was a beautiful wedding in the Italian countryside with just a few of our close family and friends with us.

"The one person I missed terribly was Yash Uncle, but I know he was there with us in spirit and his love and blessings will always be with Adi and me.

"I have always believed in fairy-tales and with God’s grace my life has been exactly like one, and now as I enter the most important chapter of my life - the fairy-tale continues."
