Mumbai witnessed a euphoric moment when a massive crowd of people along with dance reality show 'Dance India Dance' mentors and contestants broke the prestigious GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the largest Bollywood Dance.

The adrenaline rush of participating and watching a live record breaking event along with the thrill of seeing live performances by 'Dance India Dance' contestants had everyone heading to Mumbai's KJ Somaiya College Grounds.

Preparations were underway weeks in advance at hundreds of dance classes and every street corner as lakhs of viewers learnt the dance act to perform it precisely at the same time to make a world record.

Time stopped still at 7:45 pm on 1 March 2012 as 4,428 dance lovers in India successfully broke the Guinness World Records for the "Largest Bollywood Dance”.

The crowd gyrated together to the tunes of Salman Khan's song 'Dhinkachika' from the movie 'Ready'.

Zee TV created a historic moment by breaking the Guinness World Record with the objective to set a new benchmark for Indian television's No 1 dance reality show, 'Dance India Dance'!

Choreographed by Terence Lewis, the three-minute song saw the huge crowd matching steps.

The previous record was 1,336 participants, set by Terence himself in Mumbai in 2011. This year it turned out to be three times more with 4,428 participants setting the record.

The decibel level at the venue skyrocketed when Nikhil Shukla, the official adjudicator from Guinness, went up on stage and announced that Zee TV has successfully broken the record for the largest Bollywood dance at one place.

The event will be telecast on Zee TV on March 11.
