Right Direction? Zayn Malik and Shah Rukh Khan party together

Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan has been awarded the prestigious Outstanding Contribution to Cinema award at the fifth annual The Asian Awards at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.

Dressed in a black tux Shah Rukh looked dapper and decked up for the event.

By dinner time SRK loosened up his tux and caught up with the other man in focus - former One Direction band member Zayn Malik.

The 49-year-old actor and Zayn Malik found time for a quick selfie at the dinner held after the ceremony. SRK tweeted, "This kid is so cool. May Allah bless him. Dinner time at the Asian Awards." 

Zayn Malik, who made his first public appearance after his controversial exit from One Direction, was presented with the award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

Naughty Boy, the producer rumoured to be working with Zayn was also at the awards.

Dressed in a navy suit and black tie Zayn sported a new buzz cut hair do.

The award ceremony took place on April 17 and apart from SRK, a bevy of other international celebrities, politicians, musicians and industrialists made their presence felt at the event.

On receiving the award SRK said, "I am extremely humbled and honoured to receive this award. I say this very often that my stardom belongs to most South East Asians who reside abroad who have made the Indian cinema and me known around the world. I congratulate all the winners at the Asian Awards as well. There is so much talent around Asia and so many achievers, whether is was Dr Amar Bose, the Hinduja Brothers or Zayn Malik. I am glad to have been a part of such a wonderful celebration of hard work by people in difference field but similar passion."

SRK was also happy with the exclusive preview performance of Gurinder Chadha's upcoming 'West End show', 'Bend It Like Beckham - The Musical', adapted from the 2002 film of the same name.

Fashion designer John Rocha, TOWIE stars Jasmine Walia and Lydia Bright, Casey Batchelor, Big Brother star Casey Batchelor, cricketer Kumar Sangakkara, former soap actress Preeya Kalidas, comedian Meera Syal and Burberry model Jamie Campbell Bower were among the A-list stars at the event.

The Asian Awards celebrate artistes, entrepreuners and other achievers of Asian origin. Previous awardees have included Sachin Tendulkar, Anupam Kher, Yash Chopra, Irrfan Khan, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Asha Bhosle, AR Rahman and Ratan Tata.
