Bollywood superstar Salman Khan will join fellow stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in the "Bollywood Zone" of wax figures at Madame Tussauds museum in New York on August 2.
“Salman Khan is one of Bollywood’s most enduring and recognizable stars,” said Bret Pidgeon, general manager of Madame Tussauds New York.
Madame Tussauds New York's Bollywood Zone is a brightly-coloured, fully-interactive area that includes a replica of the Taj Mahal, videos of authentic Indian dancers and a photo area where visitors can pose with Bollywood stars, all designed to re-create the experience of being on a Bollywood film.
As of now Salman's statue is like a visiting star, on loan for three months from Madame Tussauds London.
Salman's statue was launched in 2008 after competing with nine megastars from the industry- including Madhuri Dixit, Hrithik Roshan, Lata Mangeshkar and Abhishek Bachchan, in a public poll to choose the 'Next Bollywood Star' that would get a wax figure.
Salman took personal interest during the making of his statue and donated the black top and demin jeans for his replica.
