Salman Khan is doing fine, confirms Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif's and Salman Khan's relationship has occupied enough newspaper and magazine column inches in the past few years to launch an encyclopedia edition of its own.

And the fodder refuses to die down, what with Kaif herself confirming Khan is back in the pink of health after his eight-hour surgery in New Jersey, which saw the superstar struggle with the nerve disorder, Trigeminal Neuralgia.

She said: "Salman Khan is doing fine and he and I will start shooting together on September 11 for Kabir Khan's "Ek Tha Tiger". The schedule will go ahead as planned."

The actress dropped this nugget whilst in Abu Dhabi on September 7 for the world premiere of her film, "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan", which goes on general release across UAE cinemas today.

Kaif continued to sing praises about Abu Dhabi, saying that the city's phenomenal growth continues to amaze her; much like her meteoric career rise that continues to stun her critics.

"I have shot several of my earlier films in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but the latter continues to be a second home to me," said the "Race" actress, who incidentally shot parts of that movie in our backyard.

The natural progression for her love affair with the city would be investing in a home here. Quiz her, and Kaif doesn't toss the idea out.

She said: "I am not averse to the idea of investing in a house here, but it's a bit too soon for me to make such plans. My career takes up the bulk of my time, but never say never."

Kaif is riding high this year with the success of her film, "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara", with early reports of her latest also painting her in positive light.

"I can't say if this is my year, but I will say that I have been lucky with my film choices and I do hope my upcoming films perform just as well," comes the diplomatic response.

Kaif's kitty offers up prestigious projects, including a triple whammy with production house Yash Raj Films, which will see the actress star in "Ek Tha Tiger" after "Mere Brother...", followed by the yet untitled film directed by head honcho Yash Chopra himself.

"I didn't set out to sign on only Yash Raj films, but sometimes things work that way and in this instance, Kabir Khan is someone who I worked with on "New York" and we became great friends. When he approached me with "Ek Tha Tiger", I couldn't say no.

"Salman and Kabir had their own equation, which is why he opted to do the film," she explained, despite us not asking Khan's motives behind accepting his first YRF production.

Kaif added: "The third film sees Mr Chopra return to direction after a seven-year hiatus and I simply jumped at the chance. Plus, I'm starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan, with whom I have never worked; so I am extremely excited by the project."

With one of India's top production houses signing her up for every big project, to a layman, Kaif certainly seems to have taken the lead in the Bollywood numbers game. But the actress doesn't want to be associated with competition.

"Who has time or the need to be bothered by numbers?" she counterasks. "I come to do a job and do it well; if I have some top films, so do other stars. I think all of us are secure in our own space."

So no need for added publicity or generating a buzz through social media platforms such as Twitter, which seems to be the norm these days with most Bollywood types?

"No, social media isn't for me," she confessed. "I don't need any added publicity and frankly, why take on something that I am not inclined to? Social media works for some, but I prefer to switch off with the camera."
