Sonakshi Sinha may be donning an Indian avatar on the celluloid but she is as fashionable as other actresses her age. It is simply that the roles she is doing require her to wear the Indian look. There’s also the fact that Sonakshi looks her best draped in the six yards.

“I have been offered roles wherein I need to drape a sari, so I tried to do justice to my role. I am like any other contemporary girl who likes to dress up according to her comfort zone. I feel most comfortable wearing pants and loose trousers. Casual dressing is what I love the most. I had weight issues which I solved with the help of my mom and Salman. I love skirts and panache dresses. But while attending certain events I always wear gowns. I wear churidars and simple kurtas occasionally. Befitting cuts and slits for my dresses also catch my eye. And I take enough care to see that they are placed properly. I can never go in for a dress which would not give the befitting shape to my height and body.

"My persona needs to look elegant. However, taking care of wearing fashionable attire does not mean wearing an uncomfortable dress. If I am not comfortable I reject that dress. I usually like to create a style of my own am not brand conscious. I will even shop at the road side if I like what I see.”

Sonakshi has a liking for Kolkata-based designers. “I love Dev and Nil's creation. Their clothes suit me the most. Rohit Bal, Narendra Kumar and Manish Malhotra's creations are also miraculous.”

Talking about her beauty she adds, “People deem my face to be very attractive and beautiful but I was unaware about it. After the release of ‘Dabangg’ I too felt it. Even during my childhood days I looked chubby and cute. But I was a tomboy. Being a fat babe I was given the post of a goal-keeper whenever we played football at school. We would always win as no one from the opposite team could score any goals. Given the size of 90 kg that I possessed no one could over shadow me.”

Inspired by Salman she talks about her weight issues. “I have undoubtedly been inspired by Salman Khan. Salman was influential in getting my size right. My dad trusted him as he is our family friend. After his intervention it was possible for me to shed the extra kilos. Though my father Shatrughan Sinha was a star in his time but becoming an actor was never in my mind.”

Sonakshi is not a jewellery person. “I have never adorned much jewellery. I don't want to look like a chandelier. But yes I am very fond of my nose ring which compliments my nose’s shape. And that has become my style statement.”

Talking about her beauty tips she says, “We should all follow only one mantra-be happy and look healthy and good.”
