Shah Rukh Khan is set to be the third Indian actor to play a dwarf in a Bollywood film after Kamal Haasan in Apurva Saghodharargal aka Appu Raja and Anupam Kher in Jaan-E-Mann. Khan will reprise the role in filmmaker Anand L. Rai’s next.

Rai who has directed the Tanu Weds Manu series and Ranjhanaa was very keen to cast SRK. “He is a talented actor and I was very keen to work with him. I have a story for him and hence I will enjoy the process,” he says.

Shah Rukh Khan has been experimenting these days with various roles. He has been working in films like Fan and Dear Zindagi and Rai has chosen the right time to take on Khan.

“It is a very challenging script and that is why I went to Khansaab. It is a very difficult character and I needed someone good and that is why I asked him to do the needful.  It is a very tough story to tell. It has its fun moments as well, and that is the best part about stories when they are difficult to narrate,” explains Rai about the film which will see SRK at less than half his real size.

There were speculations that Kangna Ranaut, Rai’s heroine from the Tanu Weds Manu series would be cast as the heroine opposite Khan, but then Rai denies it. The title too has not been announced, but Rai promises that it will happen within a month.

Khan in the meanwhile is promoting his film Raees which will clash with Hrithik Roshan’s film Kaabil.
