With each big budget movie release, Bollywood is setting new benchmark for itself at the box office.

Superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar are churning out Rs 100 crore (INR) movies almost every year.

With new releases new records are created. SRK's 'Chennai Express' was released on the auspicious occasion of Eid-Al-Fitr and the actor can't stop smiling thanks to the overwhelming response to the movie.

According to some trade analyst 'Chennai Express' has whizzed past Salman Khan's 'Ek Tha Tiger' as far as first day collection matters.

“#ChennaiExpress Thu previews 6.75 cr, Fri 33.12 cr. Total: 39.87 cr nett. India biz only. All previous records shattered. Creates History!,” tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

This means that SRK-Deepika Padukone movie has moved ahead of 'Ek Tha Tiger' that earned Rs. 31.25 crore on day one.

But then there is a conflict in the trade reports.

According to Box Office India (.com) 'Chennai Express' fell a little short of the opening day record of 'Ek Tha Tiger' with a collection of Rs 29.32 crore.

Trade analyst Komal Nahta tweeted, "#ChennaiExpress Friday all-India net: Rs. 29 crore, second-biggest ever! Thursday paid previews: Rs. 6 crore. Total: 35 crore. Outstanding!!"

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer 'Chennai Express' might have got mixed reviews from the critics, but the film is definetely whistling through.

In UAE the movie was released on August 8 and most of the screens were fully booked. "#ChennaiExpress Gulf Friday gross is around $ 600,000. Simply outstanding! Yet another record created!!" tweeted Komal Nahta.

According to Taran Adarsh, "#ChennaiExpress is setting new records in UAE-GCC. Fri $ 575,000. Some sites yet to report. Estimated to be above $ 600,000. SUPERB."

'Chennai Express' has opened in approximately 3500 screens across India on August 9. Cashing in on this festive season it benefited from the Eid holiday as people went to watch the movie in large number.
