Shilpa Shetty suspected her husband

Shilpa Shetty Kundra, one of the most fashionable divas of Bollywood, has unofficially bid adieu to the silver screen. And this actress has no plans of returning to the limelight anytime soon. But she confesses that she almost mistook her husband’s pre occupation while writing his book as a sign of him having an affair as he used to constantly be on phone with his co-author!

Shilpa says, “Right now I am in a self-imposed sabbatical, it is out of choice. My priority currently is my son Viaan and Raj.” Working behind the scenes, Shilpa turned a producer with ‘Dishkiyaaoon’. And it seems that this actress finds it convenient to be a boss, than face the camera. “Films are too time consuming whereas a producer’s job is far easier. I have a CEO to whom I can delegate a job. Also, I am a businesswoman running spas. While as an actor I have to be present in front of the camera. No one else can do it for me,” shares the actress turned producer.

Shilpa has been a regular face on the small screen as a reality show judge and advertisements and shares her experience saying, “With television and endorsements I can command when I want to work. Such work is best suited while playing the role of a mother. Hence, as of now I have not thought about films, maybe after a year or two, when Viaan will be able to communicate and mouths the word – ‘work’.”

Being a producer, if given an opportunity to cast Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, will she cast them together? To this Shilpa opines, “As a producer I will not take the risk of casting the two Khans together. Both are good friends of mine and I won’t plan any such thing.”

Recently her husband Raj Kundra wrote a book, ‘How Not To Make Money’ and Shilpa shares the ups and downs of the journey and says, “Raj always used to tell me that he is writing a book. Even before we were together, he had started working on it. But I never took it seriously. He used to be on the phone for long hours and I thought that he was having an affair. But then I came to know that it was Arya, the co-writer who he was talking to. Through the course, I read about 77 drafts of the book, after which I gave up. And I went on to reading books like ‘What To Expect When Expecting’.”

‘How Not To Make Money’ is a thriller story of a scam based in England. Sharing her opinion on the book, Shilpa states, “Raj told me that this book is an ode to the business people who got ruined because of bad scammers. It is an engaging story. But I find it very filmy in a way. In real life Raj is even filmier than me! Just like the Raj from ‘DDLJ’. Hence this book also feels filmy and cinematic. But at the same time this is a proud moment for me as a wife. While they say that you go to bed with a book, I have the advantage to go to bed with the author.”

Even as the book just released, the Kundras are already planning a Hollywood film on it. “I see this book as a good opportunity for a Hollywood film. I really love the fact that it is real and emotional,” says Shilpa.

According to Raj Kundra, a few Hollywood companies have already shown interest in making a movie out of it.

While Raj has already penned his thoughts, Shilpa is also planning to do the same. “Actually I have given a thought to writing. I would want to write on diet, health or fitness related issues. But I don’t know how it will fit in together. Right now I am just too preoccupied being a mother. It is a wonderful role and I am enjoying it,” concludes Shilpa.
