Spikes, zips, no heels: Gaga's weird new shoes

With her digital avatar dead, Lady Gaga decided to step out in mourning.

Going from her car to the Mi Officine Meccaniche Recording Studios in Milan on Monday, the controversial singer pounded the pavement dressed all in black.

And although she was wearing a dress with a daring plunging neckline, it was her shoes that attracted attention from passersby: they were steep and sloping but had no heels.

The ankle boots feature platform heels and and are studded along the underside with a zip at the back, but look like a potential hazard that wearers probably need to take walking lessons for.

Indeed, at one point, she had to grab onto a car door to steady herself.

The Gothic theme encompassed her entire outfit, which included spiked gloves.

She's been wearing heel-less shoes a lot this year, even taking a tumble in a pair at Heathrow airport in January, but these are by far the most interesting in fashion terms. They are thought to be created by longtime Gaga collaborator Noritaka Tatehana.
