Struggling actress found with her throat slit; declared dead

A struggling actress in Bollywood was found dead in the bathroom of her flat in Versova (Mumbai) on Saturday evening.

Shikha Joshi was declared dead after slashing her neck open with a knife. The police said that a continued lack of employment led her to take her own life.

The deceased lived with a friend in a housing society, had arrived in the city from Delhi two months back.

Shikha had worked in critically acclaimed Bollywood film 'BA Pass' (2012) but failed to make it big in the Indian film industry.

Economic Times reports that, the incident took place at around 6 pm (on Saturday).

Joshi went into the bathroom and slit her throat open using a sharp object.

When she did not open the door for a long time, her friend knocked on the door and Joshi opened it. However, she collapsed immediately due to excessive bleeding.

Her roommate rushed Joshi to a hospital where she was declared dead.

On the way to the hospital, Joshi was conscious and able to talk. When the roommate asked why she cut herself, Joshi said that she was frustrated because she could not get any work.

Police team was alerted by neighbours in night after which the body was sent for post-mortem.

Police stated that it looked like a suicide yet since slitting one's throat open was an unusual way to commit the deed, the authorities were not ruling out murder.
