Tickets sold out for Dubai Opera's first show

Dubai is all set for a grand inauguration of its iconic Dubai Opera House in Downtown Dubai overlooking the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain.

With a line-up of world-class performances the theatre is set to open its doors on August 31.

Tickets for the opening show sold out in less than 3 hours, all 2,000 tickets were quickly snapped up after going on sale on Sunday.

The first performance will see Spanish legend Placido Domingo take the stage.

He heads an eclectic line up of 49 concerts that have been unveiled for the first four months of the historic arts complex.

There's hope for those wanting to attend the opening show. From time to time, additional production seats may be released for shows.

All you have to do is sign up to the waitlist in Dubai Opera website and you will be contacted by email if additional tickets become available. The waitlist system will notify patrons who have subscribed in strict order of priority should there be further ticket releases.

Tickets are available online for José Carreras, Anoushka Shankar, The Barber of Seville by Rossini, The Pearl Fishers by Bizet, and the Giselle and Coppelia productions of The Russian State Ballet.

Plácido Domingo has been at home on the world's stages for over half a century. Over 4,000 singing and conducting engagements to date have taken him across the globe, from leading opera houses to historic concerts celebrating some of the greatest international events.
